Why is my clownfish abusing my BTA

OK well her is the deal. I just bough a BTA and he seamed to be happy. He is eating about a Ã"šÃ‚¼ of shrimp every other day or every 3 days and is open most of the time. Now my big mamma clown fish has taken a liking to the BTA. He tries to get in there and snuggle with it but the BTA always closes up and after does not look very good and is all stringy. He will open up after a little bit and the mamma clown goes right back over and tries to get in there. It seams like the BTA wants to have no part of the snuggling. Any one have any ideas on this. Ever see it. I have some pics I will try and through them up tomorrow. Thanks.

mamma clown (which i believe is a percila) has got to be about 3 maybe even 4 inches, and the anemone is maybe 4 to 5 inches. The anemone is not much bigger stretched out.

ok well how do I stop this from happening until it gets bigger? or do I just let nature take its course and hope for the best

why not simply get a second BTA, perhaps a little bigger, perhaps a different color variety for astecics, and then the clown will not simply dominate one, it will give the anemones both a break now and again, just an idea

I have eight in my tank(btas), and the clowns will travel from one to another, but they always comeback to their favorite so I don't know if just getting more than one will really help.

i will look for another one at the LFS and see if I can buy a bigger one. thanks for the suggestions guys. Also do yours like to sleep in the anemone?

Don't mean to steal your thread MX6import, but I have a similar problem. I have 3 (1 cinnamon & 2 Percula) clowns in my 150 tank. I bought a BTA about a month ago so they could enjoy the BTA. Now my cinnamon won't leave the BTA alone and is stuck on my back glass of my tank. How do I take him out? I really wanted to take the cinnamon clown out, but it is really hard with all the hiding spots in my tank. My next option is to remove the BTA, which is a more feasible option at this point. How do I move him and should the BTA die in my tank will it cause my whole system to crash? Any opinions or help would be appreciated. Thanks in adavnce.

If you have to take the clown out, do so at night. Get your anemone in a specimen container and when the clown is sleeping take the whole container out. If the anemone is still on the glass use a razor blade to scrape him off, be sure to get the blade on the glasss flush to scrape it off. As far as your tank crashing if it dies i dont think so seeing how it is a farily big system. Just my .02

djrecklessk- no problem better answer similar question son here then have tons of thread on the same topic (plus you have a 150 :))
If you wanted to remove the cinnamon clown you could just put a glass jar in there with string and add some food. when he goes inside BAM pull the string up and the fish will come too :)
I have to say that I have been feeding my anemone every other day and he looks really good now. nice and big. and the larger clown has left him alone and my little guy is always in there. which is good because he is not TO big for the anemone.
how do you tell if you really have a male and female anyway?
