Why is my Fuge whack?

Intuitively, it seems a period of darkness may be needed by the algae and is amore natural cycle.

This made a lot of sense to me so I went back to 12-15 hours starting yesterday. I'm convinced the chaeto grew more with just one period of lights out. I think the 24/7 was good for a time while the chaeto was new in my system, but now that it's growing well, I think I'll see better growth with a period of darkness. We'll see.

Cheato grows best on a 12 hour reverse photoperiod OR 24/7 cycle.

It doesn't require a lot of lighting or nutrients to thrive.

Chaeto is rather easily outcompeted by other types of higher alga
