Why is this coming up all the time

That's a good theory but it's dead wrong. ;)

 is it? Then why can't your servers hold up?

I thought this was the fault of the current software used and the way it is designed to run. RC simply got too large for the software to manage it properly.

Please tell. It cannot be blamed on bandwidth. RC doesnt even use a full 10MB line. Though for a forum thats a lot.

I am a server admin and gaming forum host which is why I want to know these things. ;)

And since your around, when are you going to fix it? Are you planning to fix it? Any thing in the works?

Yes - this version of vbulletin was never designed to be this big. That being said, every 'click' involves at least 3 servers to help spread the load. ;)

Correct, it's not a bandwidth problem. That being said you're wrong about what we use. We actually had to move from the existing 10mb port to a dedicated 16mb port because we were saturating it and dropping packets. We're over the 10mb threshold almost 24/7.

Don't confuse aggregate bandwidth with sustained throughput.

We've got several things coming to help and expect that an upgrade to vb will happen sometime within the next 18 months. If you've been around RC for a while you'll realize that every upgrade is a "build it and they will come" scenario. Upgrades will continue to happen every 6 to 9 months.

Cheers
