Why No Bubbles?

I was just wondering why I've been told so many times that its not good to have bubbles in saltwater tanks. Someone told me once that it was because they would get stuck in my fishes gills and kill them, but there are lots of bubbles in the ocean so I found that a little hard to believe. I'm planning a 30 long build for a mantis shrimp and macro algea build. I would think that the oxygen exchange would be beneficial to the plants, no?

Shed some light, please?

The biggest reason is the bubbles would get salt residue everywhere. The bubbles would not kill the fish though.

I think the biggest problem is that salt creep is so exaggerated with all the bubbles popping at the surface. It gets all over the lights and everything else.

I have bubbles in my 5.5 to deal with surface scum. If you are looking straight on or from the left you cannot see them. They break but I don't get creep.

I would rather see some bubbles floating around vs. some equipment like a PH or white PVC pipe but to each their own.

I agree with CakemanPA. I think most just don't like the look in the display.

I think most of the negative things about mircobubbles are urban legends. It all boils down to aesthetics. I've tried everything to get rid of the microbubbles, and I have cut it down significantly. But, there is still a little bit. When I shut everything off and I do a water change, the water is so pristine and clear it's almost eerie.

Huh, I find that odd. I sort of like the look of micro bubbles. Reminds me of watching snow while laying upside down. lol
