Why no small RR tanks?

I want to set up a frag tank plumbed off my main system. I have been searching for a 30 gallon long or regular 29 gallon tank that has a built in overflow but have been unsuccessful. I would think that there would be enough demand by the hobby to make production of these tanks profitable. I am going to get a tank drilled for a bulkhead locally to solve the problem. $30.00 and if they break the glass no refund. What's up?

On the manufacturers end there isn't enough demand for a RR 29/30 gallon tank. When people go RR they are typically entering (I'm guessing here) the market looking at a 75 as a bare minimum. Look around though, there are plenty of people (myself included) that have taken their's and made them RR.

I checked the Oceanic website and could not find a RR tank smaller than a 55. I will be fine with getting my tank drilled as long as it does't break. I just don't want to spend a lot of money on a tank that will sit in my basement.

As long as the glass isn't tempered they shouldn't break it. A 30 can go either way. Check with the manufacturer, they can tell you which panels are tempered.

Find a list of tanks that does not have a tempered bottom and drill it yourself.

Then build an overflow box and you now have a smaller RR tank! :)

I agree TheMcs. The cheapest diamond 2 1/2" hole saw I could find was $60.00 plus s/h. That would only make sense if I was planning on drilling more tanks in the future which I'm not.
