I am interested in possibly getting 2 tunze 6101 with a controller or 2 VorTech with the controllers. They are about the same price. I am looking for reasons why tunze would be a better pick.
I used to always think Tuzne products were just overpriced and a waste of money. After buying my first Tunze pump ( 6060 ) I would never switch back to any other brand. I only buy Tunze pumps/powerheads now.
The price includes five star customer service. They also have excellent resale value if you ever decide to get rid of them. They are also known to last a long, long time.
Just to expand on this, I've seen numerous examples in threads and reviews of people's experience with long lasting Tunze products. Here is one example I had bookmarked:
I realize this article comparison is with Seios not Vortechs, but the point is that Tunze has been doing this for years and has a track records of long lasting products, parts availability, and good customer service. With such a large investment in powerheads/wavemakers, it's something I personally would be looking for. VorTech is a relatively new player in this game, I'm not saying they're not great, but you have to be a little bit hesitant with something that doesn't have a running track record, especially when it's a totally new idea (motor outside the tank).
As a side note: I may be a noob in the marine world, but I've had fresh tanks for years. Some people on here might be suprised that some pleco breeders I know of have been using Tunze powerheads for years to simulate river currents you need to breed certain species.
