Why the shortage?

as explained by roger,

tunze is a small company, as being small it's not control by a huge board of trusties that demand a profit no matter the quality,

tunze takes pride in making a quality control product, people know this and want them, most of the parts are hand made and asemble, so

quality + huge demand = shortage

I'm very pleased with their products that I don't mind waiting for a piece that will easily last me 10+ years

If you want quality unfortunately you have to wait.

As Roger has stated Tunze are a pretty small company and do not churn ot huge quantities of average products.

Patience its worth it:D

We don't know it'll last that long.
I know a guy who had the multicontroller and 4 TUNZE and they all failed one after another after a certain amount of years which I will not post up here.

Failed is subjective, odds are he could have bought one or two parts and kept them in use, it also really depends how old the pumps were, the original electronic pumps from over 15 years ago had some issues but even that could have been repaired. I routinely repair 10+ year old pumps so I have to think with proper care it is not an issue to get this kind of life span, many of my pumps are 5-6 years old.
