I have noticed mine do better sitting on the bottom of a ninety gallon tank under 150w DE 14K MH and 4 overdriven T-5's.

Mine do great under the 400w Radium 20K. They are at the bottom of my 40g. My parameters are similar to the OPs but my temp is about 75* and i have lots of flow for my sps.

Really :headwallblue: ?? I'm rookie still :)

Thanks for tips

Jake

I hope your being serious and not disrespectful....

You should NEVER buy less than 6-9 polyps at a time. Anything less has an exceptionally high mortality rate. If the seller is fragging individual polyps for sale, he/she is a price gouger and is in it for the money. Plain and simple. Move on and find a trustworthy seller who isn't trying to rip you off...
Why do u think they sell individual polyps, when it is a known fact among experienced reefers that they die? So the polyp dies, and u come back a second, maybe even a third or forth time.... Now you have been ripped off a bunch of times.
See what I'm getting at?

lol no one better disrespect xsharkboyx!
With some of the newer/rare pieces you are lucky to find 1-2 polyp frags. They do take work and need close observation, but can do well under the right conditions. It is a better route to buy more polyps. You know the risks going into it and if you dont like it, dont buy it! A good thing to look for is to see if the polyp(s) are fully opened and colored up. If it looks unhealthy, dont buy it. You don't see people selling 1 polyp of orange bam bams, just the new stuff.

I wouldn't say all people are trying to rip you off. I recently bought a one polyp frag of a rainbow zoa during football season and now have 3polyps. I got a single polyp frag from a frag swap and now also have two babies sprouting out. I have lost a few single polyp frags before but also lost about a 10 polyp frag of blue hornets. I think some are just more delicate than others so of course the more you start with, the better the chances are that they will grow.

I agree that one polyp frags are a higher risk than frags with 3+ polyps. However IMO an even more important factor is: How long has the Polyp had to heal up and establish itself. One polyp, two polyp or three polyp frags can die or just fall off of the rock or plug if they are fresh cuts. When I buy or sell or Z's and P's to other reefers I like to make sure that they fraged properly and allowed to heal up before they are moved to a new tank. I wouldn't sell one polyp frags and buying them does scare me too.

Went to a LFS that sells single polyps. Ask if they do credit if they melt. Answer, No.
Asked if they take in Zoa's for trade for credit, Answer no, cause they melt and Ill loose money!
?
Too funny.

Yeah, im Kind of want save myself some money instead of buy more than one p like 30 per p :)

It seems that high end single could easy melt than cheap zoa..

Thanks
Jake
