this is the second post on this since the other, was overrun, with i don't know what. anyway, 2 clownfish, 1 condy, and 1 green BTA, the clowns won't go to either. Parameters are good, and my test kits were off. i had them tested with another kit, and my kit was off. salinity is good, as is ph, trates, trites, alk a little high, calcium at 390. My Green BTA is not bubbling at all, he opens up, but no bubble tips. I know, i've heard 432 times that i should not have them in their, and the tank has been up about 3 1/2 months now, i still know that's not long, but they are doing pretty good. so i'm just trying to figure out what i need to do. in other words do i just let him go, and let him do his own thing, or do i need to do something else.

Well I won't be #433. :D I'd say just hide and watch. Hopefully things will work out. You can't make any of them do what you want them to.

So you have (2) True Percula's. The only thing that you can do is wait and be patient and keep the water parameters in check. Let the anemone settle in for a couple months and the clowns might eventually host in it with time. There is no way to force it. The only requirements are a healthy anemone, clownfish, and patients. It helps to have a natural host for the clownfish, but you never know what will happen, good luck.

There could be a number of reasons why it does not bubble up. I am not going to suggest an anemone, it looks like you buy 1st and ask later. An anemone would be the last thing on my mind. As long as the current anemone you have is healthy and the clowns are healthy, what more do you want?

Unfortunately, most(not all) captive BTAs loose their bubble tips once they become established in an aquarium. No one really knows why and lots of people have tried to figure it out.
The anemones that naturally occur with A. percula happen to be some of the most difficult to keep and as a result are difficult to find. However, given enough time perc will usually accept a BTA as their host. The time may range from a couple minutes to a couple years.

thank you, and i've also noticed alot of ppl on this forum, like to kick people in the junk. i try to research things before i buy, i don't just throw stuff in my tank. I never really found alot on BTA's, and the LFS said he would be good with the clowns.

thanks anyway

My clowns have always "found" my BTA's (after ignoring them) after I move the rocks around for some reason or another.

My pair of onyx clowns just started hosting in my BTA last night after about 2 months in the tank. Only recent change was the addition of 4 dispar anthias to the tank but the clowns and the anthias didn't seem to even notice each other. I think you just have to wait until they decide their ready.
