wich 2 part

thesaent14....

The one that goes by rectal ( something like that ) you can get at home depot or lowes will do fine. They sell it for sealing up stuff like leaky water pipes.

The Deltec stuff is nice. but too expensive for me. The only added benefit to it I see anyways is that it comes colored. Coralline should cover up the regular 2 part from homedepot and give you the same look anyways.

Actually, the deltec clay is different in many ways not just the color, it is a softer more pliable material as suppose to a playdo like putty. The deltec will adhere to rocks even if you don’t scrub them (I tried it), also the deltec clay seem to be more adhesive under water and cure slower which is a plus when you are mixing larger batches. On the other hand the product Two little fishes sells seems to be a repack of the Home depot stuff for 5 times the money$$.

Yea i'm was pretty sure it had more differences than just the color....but none of them justifiy the cost since the stuff from home depot works for me :)

do you guys prefer this over superglueing? all my frags are glued, but id like them to really be more secure on the rocks.

I think superglueing is better in some applications, like the ones you can take the frag out of the water and in the case that you have two fairly flat and small surfaces.
On the case of larger corals or very uneven surfaces it is easy to use the putty type material.

Basically what Rogger said, for frags that you are putting on plugs, superglue is the way to go, but if you have pieces a little bigger then frags or larger colonies the putty is the way to go. Now only does it look nature but its just alot easier to place in a tank where both pieces are uneven, the putty will form into the crevice and thats it. When it hardens... its not coming off... It's better then having your arm in your tank for 2 mins holding down a nice piece, then thinking its hardened on there and just a couple seconds later a fish or a snail decides they want to see what was going on there and knocks it right off. With the putty you don't have to worry about that.

Hey guys, I know the HD & Lowes carries different stuff in different areas. Up here in TN they carry a "marine/plastic/fiberglass" 2 part stick called magnum which is made by VersaChem out of Rivera Bch. Is this the same "clay" you are talking about? I have found it does NOT stick well to rocks unless you can squish it into a crevis first, then put superglue on the frag and sink it into the epoxy/clay.

Should I make a stop at a local HD? What "exactly" is it called?

Thanks

What I am talking about is Deltec Clay, made by Deltec, which makes protein skimmers, calcium reactors, kalkmixers, etc. I like it alot and it works very well, I had two packs that came with a used setup I bought a while ago and when I got into sps, I started to use it for small frags, works very well and I will definately continue to purchase it.
