Wide tank & 6200's

Well I just wanted to report that I got my 340G - 36" wide tank mostly filled and am setting my 6200's up with the magnet holders. They are awesome. The magnets were SO worth it. The 6200's power across the 7' long tank very nicely. I actually think I am going to turn it down a bit to see if that will widen the flow. I will be running 2x 6200's and 1x 6100 and that will be the primary source of my flow.

I actually planned my tank around my Streams and have second guessed myself until today. They beat a good CL anyday, with no plumbing and more versitility. IMO, I saved money with the Streams vs a high quality CL, and it's easier to set-up, maintain, change.

I'll have pictures on my website this weekend.

A couple complaints - room for improvement. MAKE THEM BLACK. :D I also wish the Stream holders that slide onto the magnets fit more snug. I think that might be it.

They really won't even be noticed on my tank since it's wide.

Anyway, I guess that's it. Another satisfied customer. Streams rule.

We do plan to phase in black over the next couple years. The wavebox will be black and the magnet holders are black. Brown was just our color, the way green was Eheims color. In the early days of predominantly freshwater brown was a good natural color. It really doesn't metter much though, they all end up pink and purple over time anyway. I will discuss the magnet holder slide next week with Axel when I am in Germany. This is really the only complaint I have heard but I have heard it a few times. If it was me, I might lay a very thin bead of silicon on the holder and let it cure as this would probably also dampen vibration.

ItIt's funny that you mention vibration. The were a little louder than when I've had them and others on the rails. I assumed they were a little louder solely because they are more powerful in the same size case. Maybe it's vibration, I'll try the silicon trick. I have no other complaints. I think the magnets are great, they are very thin so they're really not noticable. A little more swivel action might be nice but I assume this would present a couple more challenging.

Anyway, thanks again.

Oh - any idea where I would get a 6200 screen for my 6100?

The problem with the swiveling is too strong of an angle would affect the grip of the magnet.

Just ask Kingsley, I have them in stock.

Well I put the 6100 on the smaller magnet. It is only rated for 1/2" but it's working fine on my 3/4" acrylic. I will eventually replace it, but it's probably fine.
