Wierd snail

I just fould a snail that changed. It had like a black back with little hairy spikes. Then i went to grab the snail? it changed to a hard white shell. Can someone help me out?

You got yourself a cowrie. Depends on the species you may want to move it out. Some of them are usually reef save as it will eat algae like any other algae eating snails. Some of them will get quite distructive when they get bigger and post a threat to your inverts and corals. They are very beautiful to watch because unlike other snails that grow all kinds of stuff on their shell, cowries have a layer of membrain over its back thus nothing grows on its shell and it have the smoothest, shiniest shell among all mollusks.

Thnxs that is what it is. I have done some research and people that i recieve all my stuff from sed they seen these lately. They come from the solomon islands. There are about 80 different ones. They say they will munch on sponges so i think thats why my sponges are depleteing in the last little while. I pull the little fellow out and stuck in the refugium. Lots fo algae there I hope this is fine until i know this spicies. Thnx for all your help.
