Wifes new Cynarina.sp she picked out ???

Well we have Trach`s she picked out, a red bubble coral that I got from another member here on RC and know she has picked this one out and we and picked it up last night from Chad at reefscience. She really can pick some nice color mixes and I let her when she wants. Keep the wife happy and I can get the things I want Plus it helps for the "Tanks overcrowded so we need a bigger one" scenario

I hope the ease of care is going to be the same as the Trach`s which we have had great success with. Is there anything this should not be placed near or in close proximity? The Trach`s are happy in the sand and one is actually doing better up in the rocks a tad. This one will be in the sand next to some frogspawn and zoos and wanted to be sure there would be no warfare between the two.....It will not be touching unless it expands like 6 times it size at the moment.

i have that exact same one. i keep it down on the sand next to some rocks. it seems to like it next to the rocks more than it does out in the sand.

Mine at purchase:

5 months later (now) is 6", when inflated.

It's on the rock rubble pile (no sharp edges). Likes light - I'm keeping it under sun (not harsh) and PC. Hardy, but sensitive to the heater in close proximity, water flow, directed on it, toxins in the tank, the rapid changes in salinity, temperature. Deflates, droops mouth, but restores fast. More difficult, than scolymia, but easier than trachyphillia - I can't keep these at all.

I would keep an eye on it in case frogspawn sweepers want to say hi.

Also feeding keeps them happy- look for it to open up and say AHHH at night and want food

Thanks guys for all the comments. Like I said I have had great luck with the Trachs we have and they have grown well, have a 2 mth old Scolymia that has grown and stays expanded well so looks like this will be about the same in care.
I did move it away from the frogspawn some. Don`t have many feeders come out on the frogspawn as its feed well but the 2 yr old Galaxea on the other side of tank is another story.

I did notice most of the pics posted have a bunch of tan in them. Did yours start out with more tan or get that way over time? Hate to lose the coloring this one has. Looks like a UFO with the green ring at the edge at night with the actinics

mine is actually as green as yours but my camera seems to mess with all the colors a bit. some colors it will keep the same and others it will change them

Thanks for the reply. It seems like all the corals I started out with 2 yrs ago from LFS and such were green or tan. Over the last yr or so I have tried to get more blues, reds, pinks, yellows and stay away from the all green and tans. Got me a little worried it would tan out in the long run..
Its thanks to reefcentral members and its sponsors I have gotten my tank more "Colorful" now

yea i know how ya feel about all the green. but it seems like all the other colors have a bit more on the price tag than the greens.

Mine is plain tan, was bought damaged for $10... Scolymia (same price, same condition) become salad-green from yellowish-white in a few months. 6 months later - 7" in diameter, and, OT, I was told that my hairy mushroom will be 10" within 1 yr. And I'm limited to the nanos - or not reef safe fish in 90g.

Any of my 3 kinds of candycanes have tentacles within 1". Bicolor - the longest, and, by a strange coinsidence, in direction of cynarina, which is in a couple of inches away...
