Wild acros and polyp extension

So I've got a few wild acros recently, one being a acropora millepora I believe but there is very little polyp extension at all if any, even at night. Is this common for some wild acros? I dipped the coral in Coral RX and I don't see any bite marks so I think it just needs time to acclimate but I could be wrong so I came here.

I just completely reaquascaped, do you think this could of pushed the time frame back more? Thanks for the reply

How old is the tank? Looks to be less than a year. Mature tanks handle wild sps better, and aquascaping always stresses out corals. That said polyps are peeking so you're well on your way.
Also dont blast it with light at first or you will have other problems. But I wouldnt do anything at the moment, just keep an eye on it to see if it gets lighter and lighter in color.

My tank will be hitting a year old near the end of this month, but I recently experienced a crash from bad carbon that caused my pH levels to skyrocket, within hours all my sps RTN'd, lost 2 S. Gigantea, 1 H. Magnifica and 2 fish. I did an immediate 50g wc and then proceeded to do a 100% a few days later. The wild or maricultered colonies are from the Blue Life USA helping me get back on my feet from their mistake.

I keep my levels pretty stable, but you are right my tank may not be at the level of maturity as it once was.

You could of went about that a bit differently but who am I to say.


Anyways surprisingly enough I got home from work today and I see really good polyp extension compared to what I have been seeing so maybe I just didn't give it long enough, seems like when I start asking questions the problem goes away... All of my other acros including wild/maricultured have nice polyp extension as well.

wild mille is a easy coral to domesticate. Check at night to see if there is any pe, often it will start at night and get better each day. Mille should have pe in the day time when healthy. Often wild corals are quite starved and do not know how to eat prepared food just like a new fish. Try some Pe mysis it generally is a winner, do not rinse it off let all the small particles float in the water. 10% water change with good ro/di water and quality salt mix like Aquavitro Salinity helps. I would not add any new carbon or change much else.

A tank is cycled when it can take a good bit of food with out throwing parameters off.

just a dumb question are you sure it's a Acropora Millepora not a Acropora spathulata, just a dumb question because the latter doesn't have the PE that one would assume off of a Milli, if it's an Australian coral i would bet on the Latter of the two as it has been coming in for a while

It could be, I don't know enough to tell the difference other then spathulata are a little thicker and don't have as much polyp extension. I have no information on origin as I didn't buy it.
