Wild caught or tank raised perculas

Do you all recommend the wild caught or take raised perculas? I currently have a fish only system but also have a bubble tip and a Seabae anemone and I am most looking for something where the anemone is more likely to host the clown fish to have that symbiotic relationship. It seems like most recommend the tank raised generally but to more likely get that symbiotic relationship am I better off getting the wild caught?

Tank bred!!

There are very few reasons to get a wild caught clownfish. Their likely hood to host has nothing to do with being tank raised/wild caught, it's instinct.

The reason most people have some trouble with clowns associating with anemones is because a natural host is not used. In my experience clowns will eventually take to an anemone. You just have to wait them out.

The only reason I would recommend a wild caught clownfish is in a breeding setting so you have some fresh bloodlines to introduce. As far as getting a clown to associate with an anemone goes, it isn't going to be any more likely with a wild caught clown than a captive bred one.

Tank bred all the way. Wild caught clownfish usually develop Brooklynella which can be very difficult to treat. Most importers dont even import them anymore due to this.

There are many reasons to go with tank raised.

1 higher chance to be disease free.
2 they have not been stressed in capture and in a long term shipping situation.
3 they are used to living in an aquarium and eating prepared foods.
4 producing them did not harm the reef environment.

Not all wild caught fish have the above drawbacks. But many do.

never had an issue with tank raised clowns and anemones....just make sure you get the correct anemone. my pair of platinums would not go near a haddoni but love my gigantea

IME the best way to get percs to host a anem will be to wait until the pair establish thier "spot" and put one there and its a sure thing. This is obviously much easier said then done, if your current anems are on smaller rocks that would be helpful. There is also the chance they host right away

Your sebae is most likely the more common H.crispa, and if so will be a natural host for percs, and I'm also fond of TB clowns.
