Did any of you see that series on TV the "Wild Pacific"?. Man it was awesome. They had some unreal cinematography! Some shots like I have never seen before, both from a perspective point of view and quality point of view.

What really rocked me was the one I just saw. I think it was callled "born of fire" or something like that. They showed some stuff from the Kingman Reef. Apparently one of the last rpistine reffs that exist. They have this shot of a beautiful clam spawning. The the clams shell is an Acro colony most of us would love to have. They showed a table coral that was just unreal.

Anyway, I Googled it and found these shot from Nat Geo. If you have not seen this series it is pretty amazing. http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2008/07/kingman-reef/skerry-photography

Very cool, I meant to record that in HD and totally spaced it.

I have just one question...

What's an "rpistine reff"?

LOL - you couldn't decifer that? What it was supposed to read was "pristine reef".

Kingman is a fascinating reef. I find Sala's observations about the inverse biomass distribution especially intriguing. Its comforting to know that there are some places we haven't completely over fished, polluted, otherwise destroyed.

I was just giving you a hard time... kind of like I'd like to do about "decifer"...

LOL - and I dig myself in deeper and deeper! This two finger typing thing is tough sometimes and it gets worse when you're rushing :).

Sadly it is probably one of very few.
