I have some "wild" zoo's arriving monday, i usually use the lugols at 5 drops per gallon of freshwater. My concern is that this may not be enough of a precaution with these.Any thoughts or reccomendations as to what i should do?Thanks in advance

A small Q tank will go a long way in preventing any infestations and it affords you the opportunity to watch the corals for a week or two. You can increase your iodine, use FWE, closely inspect the colony under actinics with a eye piece. You can use some the other medicated dips, but your colonies might be healthy already. I have never done a medicated dip on a perfectly healthy colony. If it's wild, you might want to think about doing one.

If it is indeed wild, I would definitely consider quarantining it. Just my opinion is all.

Thanks for the input mucho.I do have a 12 gallon i could put them in,if they are not too big.Only has 13 watt cf on it.Do you think that would be an issue? These are coming from soloman and jakarta. Some are on rock, some on coral and some just by themselves.I think i will go and get some salifert fwe, should i do that with the lugols in the same dip?Sorry for all the questions , i am new to corrals and am trying to do this right.
Thanks again

I would shoot for a little more lighting than that. A minimum of 3 to 4 watts for softies, I would shoot for at least that. If you allow the corals to acclimate to 1 watt per gallon for a couple weeks, then place them in your 110 gallon tank with MH's, if you have them, you are setting yourself up for a possible color shift, bleaching or complete retraction as a result of the intense upgrade in lighting also referred to as light shock.

I just upgraded my lighting form dual 175 SE to 250 watt DE's, and I made the transition slowly over a 3 week period with 5 layers of window screening with the top of my canopy raised completely open. I removed one sheet of screening every 4 days and lowered my lights 1 1/2" until the 3 week period was complete. I had absolutely no ill effects and my corals are dong great.

Yes, add the FWE with the dip.

No need to ever apologize my friend, we are all learning everyday/

Good luck.

Once again thanks for the info.Looks like i will combine the fwe and lugols and cross my fingers.I do not have a Q tank, so i will do my best to visually inspect and dip accordingly.

Also put them right into straight Fresh Water, or Fresh Water mixed with the FWE and Lugols.

Just Fresh Water alone makes the bugs dance!
