Will a clown host a frogspawn?

I dont want to get an anemone for my clown because the last one killed my scooter blenny. Would it be better to get a frogspawn. My biggest concern is that my scooter blenny dosen't get stung or eaten. Also my clown is a little over a year old, when I bought it they said it was tank raised, which means he doesn't miss having an anemone. And he does not show any sign of hosting anything in his tank. If anyone could share some insight on this topic I would greatly appreciate it.

My percs host my candy cane, but they only go in its branches at night.. I have a pretty big colony.

I also have a frogspawn, but they looked at it once, nipped at it, and never went back to it.

Depends on what your clown likes.

My percs are hosting my frogspawn and a torch that i have. the male likes to switch between the two while the female just hangs out in the frogspawn.

as said before, it just depends on your clown's personality, just be glad its not hosting a powerhead!

Thank you all for the answers. I will be upgrading to a 90 soon so in the mean time I will give it thought before getting a frogspawn.

Yes. The way I got mine to do it was I was looking in at the tank at night with a flashlight and the clowns ran from the light right into the frogspawn. I did the same thing with another pair with similar results.

I've heard some people have had problems with the frogspawn not liking the hosting much - if your clown is too rough. Even still, give it a shot, if you see tissue recession from the clown hosting then you can try another course of action next.

Yea. One of our female Occ loved her torch to death =\ Thankfully she now has an H.Crispa and a BTA to love instead.

It's upto your clowns though. I have another pair of Occ's in a 125g with 1 H.Crispa (1' wide) and 6 BTAs. They have no interest in any.

i have a branching forgspawn 8 branches or so and my Percs love it thay kind of just bounce from branch to branch and i have even seen them feed it (maybe not on purpose but still) and my frogspawn cont. to grow faster and faster..go with a healthy branching one from a LFS dont order online go and see it for your self and if you want it to work buy one that has a few pices branching to get things going quickly...JMHO

Good Luck

before you decide to get an euphyllia host for your clownfish, please search the term hyper melanization. Will they host these corals (frogspawn, torch) yes, but is it necessarily good for them? Nothing at all may be better.
