will a queen or imperator angel eat coral?

I was thinking about putting a Queen angel or imperator angel in a 75 gallon. The tank will have an anemone, sps, soft corals and a clam. Will they eat my corals.

First, to answer your question: Yes, both species will eat Hard Corals, esp. LPS. Also Zoas.
Second: Your tank is TOO small for either fish. Both get large. Both are active, both are very aggressive towards tankmates, especially in crowded quarters. Even small ones grow fast, so don't get thinking a baby will be OK in a 75 gallon tank. Maybe for 3-4 months, but you would be asking for trouble.
Get a Cntropyge sps. angel if you must have an angel in a 75.

Sincerely,
Matthew

I have an imperator juvi in my 75g right now. He's only in there temporarily until I finish setting up my 150g. Hopefully by this coming weekend, he will have twice as much room to live in. He has been in the 75g for about a month, and has done pretty well.

He is growing fast though, so for you, I would not recommend either of the angels mentioned due to the size of your tank. However, to answer your question, Brain corals, Acans, Trumpets, and and Zoas would be toast in short order. My tank is dominated with SPS corals, and I also have a few LPS tentical type corals as well (Torch, Pearl Bubble, & an Ellegance). I HAD a few zoa colonies as well, but they were eaten within the first week. Since then, he has not messed with anything else, and is relatively mild mannered towards the other fish. (Yellow Tang, Watchman Goby, Firefish, and a couple Cardinals) He is deffinetly the boss of the tank, but he doesn't beat on any other tankmates.

Again, I would steer clear of the large angels for your 75g tank. Maybe some of the smaller angels like a coral beauty, flame, or potters would be better suited for your setup.

While I am all for helping new people as much as possible, the information you are looking for ('is my <fish> ok for <size> tank?' and 'will angels eat my corals?') are two of THE most frequently asked questions on the entire RC site and a quick search would answer both.

Your fish will outgrow that tank and may eat your corals.

I had a Reef tank at one point... My Queen, Emper, Majestic, and Regal Angels have slowly devoured my reef... My system is now a FOWLR...

Jeez Darth, all those big guys ate your Reef? You bet against your own corals didn't you? Well, if I had a large enough tank, I'd keep the Regal myself, corals be darned. But that is the only large Angel I would have in a large tank..

I didn't have a huge amount of coral... I decided at one point the fish was what i was enjoying more, so I let the corals go.... Oh well....
