getting rid of cyanobacteria?

if so which unit would i need for a 120g mixed reef?

I assume it would only need to be run to FIX an issue, so it isn't on all the time... correct?

hmmm.. i figured it may get rid of bacteria..

BUT

I guess it would be counter productive in that case if it just killed all bacteria

I looked this up not to long ago, I think if you search on the forum or on google you can find a chart with the flow rates/wattage you need to kill specific bacteria in your tank with a UV.

i assume that it would kill any cyanobacteria floating in the water column, but wouldn't do much for killing cyano already living on the sandbed. i've read a few places that most UV sterilizers are grossly overrated on their levels of effectiveness, so get a good one or buyer beware...

I was looking at large pond rated ones for my 125 tank haha. Problem Is I don't want to zap EVERYTHING.

Bad Idea I Guess
