Will adding a single bulb fixture help?

Not Likely 2 Ever Grow Up
I've got the original light fixture that came with my AllGlass 90G - its a single bulb standard florescent fixture. It has a 50/50 bulb in it right now (bulb was 3 months old when we took it off the tank). We stopped using it when we got our 4 bulb T5 HO AquaticLife fixture.

My question is, if we put the old fixture back on the tank in addition to the new fixture, would this help with our lighting - or would it not make a difference?

Just curious what ya'll thought.

Well, I figured as much... just hate for it to sit gathering dust. What if I put a new 20K bulb in it? Still no help?

Just not worth the trouble. Sorry, wish there was a better answer. Sitting and collecting dust is about the best answer. That or try and sell it to someone with freshwater.

Thanks for the info. Figure the fixture isn't worth but $5 to sell it - probably not worth the trouble. I'll put it away and it will go with the tank if we ever sell the whole setup.

At last count I had 3 of tese in my garage. 40 watts is just not enough to have a signiffiacnt impact on your tank. An option is to get an NO actinic bulb and use it just for looks but like most of us you would probably want to spend that money on other things.

Put an actinic in it and use it on halloween... thats what i used to do and it really lit up the front of the house. I would lay it down in the flowerbed and have it pointing up the front face of the house.

Thanks for the ideas!

We don't get trick-or-treaters out here in the boonies - our driveway is almost 1/4 mile long and the entire 3 1/2 mile street our farm is on has like 10 houses on it. The first year we lived here I bought all kinds of candy and we waited and waited and waited - no one came (DUH - what was I thinking?). But thats a dang good idea Lindsey! You can borrow next Halloween for special effects! :)
