We are a New York City & Long Island, NY based club.. not sure if any of our members would know about any good reef stores up in Albany. (I surely don't haha). If you happen to be passing by either NYC or anywhere in Long Island, I know we can help you out for sure.
The only store I can recommend that is somewhat headed in the direction of Albany is Maximum Reef Aquatics in Yonkers. Here is their website if you'd like more info..

Sorry not part of the group but I am from Albany. I would check out Healthy Pets in east Greenbush. Also Upstate Corals in Schenectady is a pretty new shop in the area, haven't been there since they first opened, they looked like they were going to have a alright setup.
Maximum Reef was mentioned, I have made the 2 hour trip to that store several times because it was worth it. Their prices are better than online prices. 85 for medium purple tangs.

Eddies Aquarium Centre. It's located in cohoes, about 15-20 minutes north of Albany. I've been there once but they seemed to have a nice operation going. They quarantine their new arrivals in the basement before selling to customers and they had a fairly large stock as far as fish and inverts go. Prices are a little higher than online prices but they have weekly specials that you can check in their newsletter.

If you're looking for fish Eddie's isn't bad, but their coral systems have gone downhill over the last few years.
