Will blue leg hermits pick at a clam?

I'm trying to plan things out before I buy one.
I know someone will ask, so I have a 65 g tank, 36" long, 18" wide, 24" deep, with two 250w 10000k Hamilton mh. I am planning to add two 36" VHO actinics.

In my experience, no. THey will not harm a healthy clam. But they will help themselves to a nice dead snack.

Clams often die suddenly. (Don't show signs of impending death until it's too late) When people wake up and see the dead clam being eaten by a bristle worm or crab, it is most often unfairly blamed.

I don't trust them. They always were climbing on all of my clams, making the clams close up. None of my clams were sick or dying. Have them all still. and that was over 2 yrs ago. I would not put any type of crab in my tank with clams. That's MO.

I never had problems keeping blue leg hermits/clams together...I agree w/ peabody that they will only attack the clam if its already dying.

I had to remove 15 Blue legs when I got my first clam. My clam is very healthy and over 4" now. But he would of been a dead clam if I left those demon crabs in there;)

I vote reef safe. I have a squamosa and a baby crocea. Neither have been bothered by the crabs.

I have at least 25 blue legs in with a 5" maxima, I have never seen them bother it, but the clam is sufering from pinch...which I thin is probably from a bristle worm, are parisite IMO...
