will copper kill bacteria?

cupramine will not kill your beneficial bacteria.

somtimes the beneficial bacteria can become stagnant when first introduced to copper, but will continue their biological filtration functions.

If thats the case then why does everyone run for the hills when someone mentions copper, besides the fact that it kills inverts ?

Yes, copper kills bacteria. There are some antimicrobial copper surfaces invented in the medical industry which reduce bacteria from coated surfaces. In medical science, it is said that when there is direct interaction between a surface and bacterial outer membrane, it ruptures and creates holes or perforates the outer membrane through which the bacterial cell loses vital nutrients and water, causing a general weakening of the cell.
