Will gsp frags join together

hello

i have a tank 39" x 20" x 4" that has 4 holes drilled in it. i was thinking of using a 70g as a sump and only having gsp grow in the tank on the glass. there would be no rock in the display tank. if i took about 20 frags of gsp from the same colony and had them grow would they join together once they touched or would they grow over each other. the idea is to have a gsp carpet and that's it in the tank. i think it would be so beautiful to see neon green gsp in such a large form.

Sure. You can see the thick mat in this picture in the lower left front corner. It got bigger than that, and then I harvested much of it back down to a thin layer.

Ha yeah once they run out of surface to grow over they will just start growing layers/flaps over itself...over and over.

I usually frag the flaps off, but if you leave it long enough yeah it will get pretty thick. Ive had someone bring in a chunk of GSP to my old LFS with no rock that was about 18x10x4 and at least 3 lbs of solid GSP. And he said it was a frag :)
