Will he survive?

I managed to remove a small green mantis shrimp from my aquacultured live rock and had placed him in my QT tank. He has been in there for about 2 weeks now. I am trying to give him away. Friends have no interest and neither does the LFS. If I release the little guy into the ocean will he make it?

Where was the live rock from? Never release a non-native species! If you got the rock from TBS and you're in Florida, I don't see any harm.

I agree with Dan, since your rock is from TBS it's from Florida waters anyway.

dont release it. native or not. you have no idea what's growing in your tank that you might introduce into the ocean. in the end, the death of your one wayward mantis will not make a difference. there are very strict regulations on releasing animals into the ocean for a reason.
