I really need people to tell me what they think about my problem!
I have a new 180 gal. that has not had anything put in it yet, but here is the problem. I noticed while cleaning the glass that the plastic rim around the top and the bottom of the tank has a crack in them. The cracks are about 1/8th inch from the corners on the right and left side of the tank. Only on 1 side of the bottom front. I thought about just replacing the rims, if possible, or maybe I don't want to bother with replacing them at all. Yes the tank is warranted, but if it doesn't affect the integrity of the tank, it would be easier to just keep it the way it is as long as it won't cause a problem. Yes the braces across the tank are intact. I contacted the company which the tank was made from and they told me that the rims could not just be replaced because they were mietered and have to be brought back to the shop to repair. The company thought that it happened while it was shipped. Here is also my other concern, the company says they of course will replace the tank with a new one but I have to return it to the store that I got it from and they will deal with them on the replacement. Sounds great but the store is closed until further notice because the owner had gotten really sick and at this point don't know if they will ever reopen. So, company says that I need to find someone who deals with this company because they don't deal directly with the public.
Now will these cracks affect the tank integrity or does it really need replaced? If so, anyone got any ideas how I can do this?
