Will LED's keep chaeto alive?

I want to setup a refugium in one of the back chambers of my 12g nano cube. I dont want to have to do a lot of modding and the only light i can find small enough for that would be LEDs. Would it be enough for chaeto and/or live rock?

Some of the new high intensity LEDs like what they're using in the Solaris fixtures would probably be okay. It'd be DIY all the way.

I'm looking to do the exact same thing for my 12g AP, and have the same question. Anyone have any experience using LED fuge light to grow chaeto?

Thanks!

You'd be pioneering the use of LEDs for macroalgae specific growth, if you go ahead with it. Please keep us up to date if you decide to go with the LEDs and let us know how they work out for you! :)

the smallest leds on nanocustoms was 2"x1"x2". It would barely fit in my chamber. would the lights be able to submerge, or would I have to drill it into the top of the tank or something?
