Usually the tangs are really attracted to seaweed, haven't really heard of damsels being attracted to seaweed. I have a couple in my tank and they never touch the stuff I put in there for my tang.

i have blue green reef chromis that eat it when i put it in for the tangs i think they are in the same family as damsels. but now that i think about almost everything eats it in my tank blue jaw trigger, blue stripe cleaner wrasse, gold head sleeper gobie, maroon clown, lyretail anthias. most just randomly pick at it.

Your damsel doesn't really need the seaweed. It may eat it, especially if it sees other fish eating it. Alone with no examples to follow it may not try it. So basically, yes, your fish is normal.

Our blue chromis eats green seaweed when my yellow tang starts to pick at it. I don't think it's important to give a damsel seaweed.

I have had damsels eat seaweed and some that didnt. They seem to go after it more when its broken up into tiny pieces. If he doesnt touch it then just dont feed it to him. Its not something he really needs like Lukfox said.

My blue damsel only ate seaweed when my yellow tang and swallowtail angel ate it. Now that I dont have the tang or angel anymore, the damsel doesn't even look at it if I offer it. In fact she seems afraid of it. --strange--
