Will my haddoni be ok?

Found him this morning stuck on my mp40....again. The powerhead was covered but part of him still got mangled in there. Here are some pics:

Last time he did this, i just pealed him off and he was fine but he didn't show any signs of injury.

It don't appear to be that bad. I would just watch it and make sure your water parameters are on track and it should be ok. You might want to add a few drops of iodine to your tank as ive heard it helps heal them.

Something is causing it to float around and find a new space. Needless to say the MP40 will suck it right in.

Looks like a little road rash and some TLC will help it recover.

What % is the MP40 running?

It looks to be okay. I wouldn't panic. Definitely turn off/turn down the MP40 until it roots itself somewhere securely though.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. Here are some latest pics:





He seems to be doing better and is currently digging his foot back down in the sand. Although he keeps doing this and week or so later comes out again. The only thing that I can see is sometimes there are snails and crabs that come by and get under him and pi$$ him off because that is when he starts to inflate.

I keep the mp40 running at 30% during overnight hours and never gets about 65% during the day at various modes. I'm thinking of just shutting that mp40 down on his side at night.

I have 2 mp40 on my haddoni tank and I never run them more than about 25%. Haven't had one go for a walk yet, knock on water and I have 8.

Mine got munched a lot worse than yours. Within a few months it was better. That was at least a year ago. I just couldn't get it to stay in one place. Sadly, I don't believe yours will stay still until it finds its happy place. That is the challenge. Rocks...pvc...deep sand bed...less flow...you have to continue to try until you find one that works. If I come across another idea I will be sure to share it.

I was away for the weekend and got back today. He's moved again since he got munched up and now has put his foot under my rock and sand, which is what most of the haddonis do. I'm hopping this is what he was looking for and will finally settle in. You can see in the pic also where the part of him that got caught in the mp40. My red haddoni that had stayed put for 2 weeks decided to go walking as well when i was gone and found him on the glass when i got back. I put him by some rock as well next to his buddy..

What kind of lighting do you have? Typically haddoni don't walk up (into rocks) nor do they float around (to get caught in an MP40) unless they want more light or the tank parameters are not to their liking. Get these two in check, along with flow, and they should stop walking. IME, out of all anemones I've had, haddoni and gigantea walk the least when tank parameters meet their needs.

BTW, my gig got munched on twice by an MP40 (with the foam guard on) and it was fine both times. Just took a little while to recover.

FWIW, my Gig was torn pretty good by a MP40 without the foam guard on. It healed just fine. Like most others I believe that the anemone will recover from the injury. My main concern comes back to finding the root cause of its wandering.

Have you seen it detach and float off? Or is it wandering up the wall with its foot attached?

How close were you keeping the two Haddoni? Perhaps they just don't play nice together. In the last two pics if there were any problems with cohabitation, their proximity would definitely be something I would consider changing. Any other anemones in the tank?

I have 36X3W CREE LED's and tank parameters are inline with what they are supposed to be. Cal about 450, Alk 8.2dkh, Mag 1380, phosphate .02, Nitrate < 2ppm and of course Ammonia and Nitrite at 0. I do 3 gallon/day water changes as well. As far as flow, i don't know what they want...i try to keep it as low as possible without trying to make other tank inhabitants unhappy ( I do have a few SPS pieces).

I've never actually seen it with my own eyes detach and float off, would just find it walking on the glass or wake up finding it on the mp40.

I did have a RBTA in the tank about 1 week ago and suspected this was causing him to walk and I gave the RBTA away so now it is only the 2 haddonis in there. The red one was located on the other side of the green one in the tank up until i got back from my trip last night. When i got home, the red one was on the very top attached to the rock. I left him there overnight and in the morning he was back down on the bottom but on the glass. I peeled him off the glass and put him in the same area as the green one now and tried to make a "good" spot for him as far as adequate sand and rock. He's attached now and looking good but for how long is the million dollar question.
