hi,
So i have been reading and received good feedback, and even though I alternate foods everyweek, I decided to stop feeding my two clowns (only fish in my tank) spirulina brine shrimp....I will try the cyclopeze product...but I was reading that part of the year in the wild clowns eat nothing but algae.....does anyone have any experience with clowns eating seaweed? the same kind that you would clip to the glass for tangs?...and if so, do you still feed something meaty or do you let them finish the sheet of seaweed first and then alternate to meaty foods and so forth?

Thanks for your inputs!

mine are terrified of the veggie clip. They stay at the other end of the tank. They do like Formula 2.

Silly little things. They ain't called clowns for nothing

mine are clarkii clowns and they love green algae strips i put in my tank for my lawn mower blenny. Sometimes they eat more than the benny gets...poor guy.

mine will eat whatever hunks end up passing by their anemone while the tang gets his feeding frenzy going at the clip. they have no interest in the clip itself (the tang's feeding frenzy may have something to do with that).

i don't make any effort to feed seaweed or sheet algae in tanks w/ just clowns, tho. they showed interest in other veggie material (spirulina, formula 2, broccoli, etc) that is easier to feed.

My ORA pearleye clown seems to love the stuff. He eats it off the clip right next to my Desjardini Tang. Tang is a new addition, never expected the clown to go after his food.

I bought a 1" black/white clown 5 days ago. i've tried for the first 4 days spectrum 1mm pellets, .5mm pellets, ocean nutrition flakes(beef and the shrimp kind), marine seaweed algae, and mysis shrimp. the only thing out of that group it would eat is an occasional 1mm pellet, which it seems like its having a problem swallowing. it would spit it out a lot. when i say occasional, MAYBE 1 pellet per feeding.

yesterday, i tried this Marine Cuisine... It shredded in the tank and blew all over... the clown was eating it very aggressively going after every piece it saw.

I was pretty glad to see it finally eating. After a while, will it learn to eat flakes and pellets after it gets really acclimated to the tank? It didnt even attempt to eat any of the mysis shrimp.

thoughts?
