Will Prime hurt my tank?

I mix up small saltwater batches and sometimes I just want to throw a few drops of prime into the mix to make sure there is no chlorine or whatever even though I use RODI from my system. Is this ok? Are there any negative aspects?

RODI water should already be clear of any chlorine/chloramines so it shouldn't be necessary to use prime. It is basically pointless.

Anyone else have an opinion? I sometime rinse my power heads and heaters in my sink and am worried the water let over will hurt my tank. Can I throw drops of prime in my tank or will it throw off the ammonia nitrate balance??

I don't worry about chlorine but I add a little prime now to my make up water simple because I can go over a week of it sitting in my basement near my two cat litter boxes. I read here about ammonia and even though I tested for it awhile ago I came up with a zero reading. Still struggling with nitrates though and thought adding a little prime wouldn't hurt but it's not affecting my tank from what I can tell.

It won't hurt nothing. When I was buying my RO/DI water from my LFS, I would dose with Prime, just too make sure. We all know some LFS will take shortcuts to save money.

What is the benefit to using prime during a water change? I heard someone else say this but assuming you use RODI I wouldn't think it would be necessary. I'm just curious. I have never used prime during water changes before.

Prime may affect the accuracy of your nitrate test.
