Hi all,
starting a bta tank and was wondering if a bta of medium size will stay attached to the lr rock it comes with when placed in the new system?or will it wander off looking for a new spot.
I'd like something that stays put, lol,so the nem on live rock seems the way to go,any advice would be great, thanks.

They will wander until they are happy...I've had them move all the way across my tank to the totally opposite side.

and they have been known to become "unhappy" at any given time, and move again... Some people have them not move for years, some are just wanderers....

only thing you can do is to ask the person you bought it from, what conditions it liked in it's old tank where it attached to the rock. Then try and match those conditions in your tank. Other then that, they'll move as they please.

They only move when they are unhappy. If appropriate conditions are met they will not move. They don't just move for fun. If it's not moving in the tank it's in now then you will be off to a good start by leaving it on the rock that it's on. One of the reasons they can potentially move is to find a secure place to attach. If you have good water quality, give it an appropriate amount of flow, and acclimate it to your lighting then you have a good chance of it staying on that rock. Hardly any of mine have ever "wandered" and it's not a coincidence.

Thanks all,
so it's no sure thing it will stay on the rock even if it's been established on there a long time?

Definitely not a sure thing. In YOUR tank, water conditions, flow, lighting are all different than THEIR tank. It may very well move. That being said, it might not :) That's the wonderful thing about living beings.
