Will sump fit?

I purchased a 150 gallon tank 72x18x27 tall but my question is I'm building the stand and purchased the trigger emerald 39". This sump should fit with in the stand damsons right? Or do i need to make wider? I haven't started the stand yet.

I don't get it..
If the sump you have doesn't fit in the stand you are building and intended it to fit in then you screwed up building the stand..

Measure the sump and build accordingly...

Trigger 39 is Dimensions: 39″ long x 16″ wide x 15″ high

If you are using the "standard" RocketEngineer style 2x4 construction then no, it won't fit if you go strictly by the plan. The easiest way around that would be to double up on the top frame with the inside set of 2x's the size of the tank (72x18) keep the bottom frame the size of the outside set (~75x21) and you'll have plenty of room. The top will be oversized for the tank, but I prefer a little bit of a ledge on the front and sides anyway.

depends if he wants the sump to sit inside the bottom rails or not. if he plans to put a piece of plywood on top of the bottom rails and put the sump on that, it should be fine.

YUP...thats what I was hoping somebody would say..So it should be fine with a little ledge is fine..Maybe a big size shoe molding..LOL I will start my build soon.

Actually, it will still be rather snug. The corner uprights are the same thickness as the rest of the stand, so the inside dimensions will be ~69x15. You should also have at least one brace in the center of both long runs unless you are going with 2x6. (which is way past overkill for that size tank)

And, at least IMO/IME, wasting the space inside the bottom framework is not a very good choice - you will lose 3 1/2" of height inside the stand, and in addition, being able to use that area as a catch basin for sump spills/overflows will save your floors from water damage. The bottom plywood should be all the way on the bottom, with paint and then a good quality caulk around to prevent leakage.

I wonder if top could be 72x18 and then angle to 72x21 towards the bottom. Like pyramid type. Obviously not to much. But just a thought. Everything would still be enforced on all sides. From with in the top stand and double on bottom. If any one has done this send link. But if not oh well. Or you know what maybe just the long sides only. I'm sure having the stand stained in red oak with a small incline would look really cool. This tank will be an island tank.

Both sides of tank stand will have two braces on each side. Off centered from middle. So if i'm looking at it from one side I see one small cabinet door then two in middle as this one will be the wides and then small cabinet door.
