Will the dorsal fin grow back???

Hello, I have a pair of true perculas and I purchased a gold flake angel that completely destroyed their dorsal fins. The spines are still there, but that's about all. Will their dorsal fins grow back with color (orange), or will they grow back clear, or not at all? They look terrible with their fins that way and I feel so sorry for them. How long will it take to regenerate? BTW, I took the gold flake back to my LFS as soon as I noticed the damage. I'm so upset. Please help. Thank you.

If the spines are left, there's a good chance they'll heal. If the bite goes deep into the muscle below, there is a possibility some areas may not heal correctly.

Fin-bites happen all the time. Keep them clean and in good waterflow, and feed them well. You should see growth in a few days.

Do ask about compatibility before purchasing. Clowns are among the most aggressive fish commonly kept in an aquarium, but the percs are the most easy-going of the lot. Keep them with gobies, blennies, and chromis and they'll be much better off.

I had a freshwater veiltail angel whose fins healed clubbed, and who couldn't swim well. I actually did surgery to take the fins back below the point of incorrect growth, and with a slight ripple on the fin, the second try healed correctly. They're not quite like fingernail, but it's close.
