I really really don't want sand.

-the rockwork will be very porous and have many caves, nooks and crannies.

no thanx.

You'll never see the prawn goby so stay away from that one

Don't waste your time -- he is not too fond of hearing information that he doesn't want to hear. His last thread was closed for that reason.

To the OP --- if you don't want sand why are you considering fish that do best with sand?

Pretty much anything can be kept without sand. Whether or not they will be happy or not is another question. But I'm sure it doesnt matter whether or not they are happy.

Cheers to this thread. Something amazing will probably happen.

ight. and you know this how?
I use my head... In nature they live with sand shouldn't we provide an habitat as closely similar as possible?
thats nice. and how would you know?
Maybe, because hundreds of people have tried and none had any success?

they would be in a 29 gallon tank (very small tank)
Evem in a 4 gallon tank they'll be barely seen

will both be in a diy burrow next to the glass.....
why would they? They might as well have a burrow in the back.

enlighten me.
We try to but you don't listen.

Because i have had one. I have had first hand experience with one, and it is quite obvious that you have not. I had one in a 20g high. I never saw it so i bought an in-tank fuge for it. It was smaller than a 5.5g AGA tank. I had it in there by itself with one tiny piece of rock, and even then, it managed to find a way to not be seen.

If you refuse to take advice, why bother asking?

....because i put them there and thats where i would like them to be.

....maybe because I DONT CARE IF I EVER SEE THEM after i put them in.

all i asked was if they would be ok without sand. de-de-de

Xgame2k --- Maybe you didn't get the hint when your last thread was closed, for the very same behavior you are showing now. Here is a piece of advice, knock it off.

lets just say i put sand in the dang tank. i was always told to put no more than 1" for a ssb.

would there be any problems if i where to put 1.5" to 2" around the fish burrows?

should i put more sand sifting creatures in my clean up crew?

You've asked the same question in three threads and been hostile to everyone who replies. Why are you even asking?

not hostile at all. maybe your just sensitive.

This thread is going in the wrong direction. Having had both fish (actually still do), I suggest you do whatever you want to do and stop asking questions that you don't want to hear answers to. In any case, you should try and home animals that are compatible with the tank you want to have rather than force animals which require different circumstances into the tank you want to have.
