will these two clowns be able to pair up?

I have a clown fish that is about 1.5" long in my 470g dt, I wanted a pair so I ordered another one from ORA. I thought I was going to recieve a small one, but to my surprice the new one seems bigger than my old one.

would they be able to make a pair??

I know they can change sex but I believe that only happens when they are small??

Hard to predict. It really depends on how old they are and if they were with other clowns before you got them. One or both may already be female. Once female, they don't change back.

the one I had was alone in a box for 8 months now he is in my dt, does that tell anything about the sex??

and the new one should have been with many since it was in ORA?

the thing is that the new one is bigger than the one I had.

If they are both males, could they change any time to female independently of how old?

my dt is 470g, what would happen if I have 2 males or 2 females? would they fight?

Oh, hmm, I hope they love eachother then.
When clowns live alone, they become females.
This happens quick so your old fish, might already be female.

The bigger fish you got last, might still be a male, if it was kept in a school of siblings before you got it.

If they fight, what happens is, that they meet mouth-to-mouth.
If they pair up, the one will refuse to stand ground and instead start shaking/seizuring to show submission.

If they meet mouth-to-mouth and it continues, they will have to be separated or they will kill eachother because they won't accept eachother and can't leave the tank by themselves.

If they just nip fins and then start the "shakes", then they are bonding and doing fine.

Btw., if you start to think that your tank is making noises, it's just the clowns.
