Will they pair?

My male Picasso died a little over a month ago and after watching my female Picasso swim lonely in the GBTA I decided to get her a new partner. I decided on a small juvenile semi-picasso.
A week ago I added him and he immediately swam into the GBTA where it stung him and started to pull him in. He swam out of it on his own and then was promptly chased and nipped at by the female. Since then has been forced to the other side of the tank. If he crosses the midway point of the tank she chases him away. She also nips and chases during feeding. Due to their size difference there's really nothing he can do, and I'm kind of worried that she could easily kill him (he's 3/4" she's 3").

Do you think they're pair up? I'm going to give it a few months, but if they're not pairing I'm going to have to take him out and try again with someone else.

I would give it some time. Maybe she is just showing dominance over the male. But if it continues I would think about removing him before he is killed. And I don't think I would wait a few months, if they were going to pair up it would be done sooner then that I would think.

I am with doe5 give it some time, and if not I would get a male picasso that is a little older and at least an inch an a half.

usually how much time it takes to pair up..after introducing same time together..??
when will one should realise that no pair up is going to happen..?

not sure what you're trying to ask here, but perhaps you should start your own thread

Well the little guy has started to hang out right above the GBTA during the day. He stays about 12" away from the nem and female. If he gets any closer she aggressively chases him away. She also goes after him during feeding time. Overall it looks like she's sort of getting used to him.

Does this seem like normal progress considering they've been in the tank together for 17 days? I kind of thought they would have it worked out by now, but I will continue to monitor.

PS the new guy is healthy as can be.
