Here is acouple of ideas i have. the sump is already setup this way with two plugged off bulkheads coming in from the side where the return pumps sit in the tank.

the first pic is without live rock and i added a divider to keep the sand storm down. the 2nd pic has the divider replaced with live rock for the over flow to come down on.

please let me know your thoughts

Yup, that will work. That is how I am setting mine up.

The fuge on the left will be fed by my return, then it will overflow back into the shared sump. Yours will be better since it is coming right from the DT, but either one works.

Is this to scale?
I like it. Your 'fuge could be like a macro algae display tank. Gravity fed is the way to go if you have the opportunity.

it is to scale. I just hope a couple of inches will be enough to gravity feed into the sump where the return pumps are.i just want the refuge level with my sump that way i know it wont flood it i have a power outage. I dont have that much more room to rase it higher. but i do have alot of ball valves in the plumbing so i guess i can fine tune.

Oops. I thought the display tank was the new 'fuge. :debi: If you are doing it this way, you might as well just get a sump that is the full length, and add the 'fuge into the sump. Just add the refugium at the end and feed it off a "t" from your return pump. That way you add lots of extra water volume and remove complexity and the cost of extra bulkheads, and additional tanks. You also remove possible locations of leaks.

the thing is i already have the stuff to do it with and both sump and spare tank was drilled when i got them in the lower side. I was thinking with the pumps being the small compartment where the two input are for the extra tank that it would help pull water in from the refuge.

Use what you have I guess??? I would use filter socks even on the refugium. It will just flow back into the sump and turn any reactors you have into canister filters.
