Will this work ???

I have a new tank on order as well with the stand and canopy. The tank measurements are 40 x 20x 24. I am trying to determine if this light setup will work (see link below). I intending to attach the unit with screws to the underside of my canopy. The main light will be over the center of the tank. I am concerned about having not enough light on the sides with the VHO lights. The setup is 36 inches in length so it looks like I will have 2 inches on either side with the canopy. The canopyââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s height will a standard 12 inches high to allow for MH lighting. Any sugeestions are welcomed..Thanks !

2" is fine. Not to worry, the lights will spread out to cover that area.

Thanks for the reply. Since this unit has a built in cover, will this be a problem when I attach it to my canopy?

My tank is 36ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ and I started with 1 250watt right over the dual layer center brace. I was fine with it until I upgraded to two 250watt one on each side of the brace and will never look back. All my sps colored up within days.

i you're goin to keep sps, i'd just go 2 250s now instead of later

Yeah I am planning to have some sps. So it looks like (2) 250watt it is. I will look into getting a retro setup and just trim the reflector back to adjust for the 40 inches.
