Will zoa's and paly's do well under just blue lights, or do they need white lights too?

It depends on the blue light. For example, if you're talking about ATI Blue+ bulbs, you'll be fine. They have excellent par numbers. Same with Radium 20000K halides.. or blue LED's...

If it's something like a blue(actinic) PC bulb, that's different.

I hae a frag tank that uses ati blue and the zoas do just fine
