All you have to do to tell my apartment from the rest is look for the one with water dripping down all windows! :D

I'll have to get one of mine in a day or 2 when the rain goes away, but I've seen C_stowers upstairs window at nigt and you can sure tell which house is his after dark:)

Yeah my window is pretty much a dead give away. I'm not sure what the neighbors think, but I am sure they think the color is pretty odd.

Oh man...hah hah. Great idea for a thread.

When I lived in this tiny rental house, we used to tell people to look for the *glow* coming out of the big front window. It's pretty amazing how bright 2 400W 20K MH bulbs can be when they're suspended with no hood! hah hah. They'd ALWAYS see it.

ha a friend of mine actually had the police come out to her house in the country to see what she was growing.

I hope she didn't let them in without a warrant.

Art (from my club) bought a bunch of reflectors from some police-seized auction for his MH fixtures.

I wonder where they came from??? hmmm.

if they decide to come to my house, im giving them a tour and lecture about reefkeeping....LOL....actually, i'll probably need to erase all the movies, games and music off my computer before they come...LOL

We were in our house 3 days in Nashville when one of the neighbors (meeting him for the first time) warned us that the home owners assoc president (major %*&%&jack) had already accused us of 'growing grass in the living room'. Such a moron. Ignorance is not knowing something. Acting (speaking) on that which you are ignorant to makes you stupid... He came over that night and told us in no uncertain terms that he expected blinds to be put up immediately (edit-already had blinds up-he insisted on curtains that night-didn't get it;)). I gave him a hail mein fuhrer and went about my business. He complained to every home owners assoc pres after him about the blue cast from my windows, asking to have them make me shut it down. I wanted to issue a complaint on the unsightly yellow cast coming from his house:D. He had nothing to do in life but call the cops on the kids playing in the street in a cul de sac (and these kids were usually pretty respectful to everyone). Nothing like an inflated sense of self worth...

After we got moved in in Montgomery, I noticed a cop pull up out in front of the house and creep by slowly. Then he stopped and sat for a few minutes and drove off. I guess he was able to see the tanks from the road and knew what they were. No raids. Yet... Our electric bill runs over $400 a month (horrible insulation and bad HVAC unit add to it), though, so I'm surprised they haven't come a callin'.

I use to give the day shift sgt all my water jugs when I use to buy distilled water, so the cops know all about my place. Had few call me up and ask to come over with their kids to check it out. LMAO Im giving tours to cops and their families!

Though the sgt was dissapointed when I stopped buying distilled water, lol! He used them for watering cones for his garden.

some people are just idiots huh gary?!?!....we have a nosey neighbor as well....if i was seriously growing some grass....wouldn't it be smart to do it in the basement or garage?...drugdealers are smart people, they wouldnt do anything that obvious

Yeah. Welcome to my home. Take a seat between those two sticky sensi strains and I'll get you some tea... Makes perfect sense to me.

Gflat:
Just have to laugh out loud. I swear this is a true story!
I have a friend who lives in a rural farm area outside of Cincinnati; after buying his home he installed a 300 Gallon Reef that had 5 400 watt MH's plus VHO's.
One day he came home from work and his wife told him a helicopter was hovering (very low) over their house for quite a while; he said it was probably just a student pilot practicing hovering. He (like me) flys fixed wing aircraft, and knows practice happens where and when it can; away from overly populated areas.
That night as they were watching TV in their living room, when their front door was (literally) knocked in, and 5 police officers (3 local and 2 state) burst in telling them they were under arrest, and demanded to know where the POT growing room was.
Jim (my friend; not a small person, first cleaned himself up, then...), stood up, walked over to the officers and said: "If you look around the corner from the door you just bought you will find a 300 gallon reef tank.
The local officers (looking quite stupid, and glaring at the state boy's), looked around the corner, saw the tank and spent 2 hours doing a temporary fix to the door, and looking at the tank (as well as having the gall to ask him questions about the little animals they saw). He said the state boy's left immediatly!
A few weeks later the local police chief actually called him; apologized yet again, asked if the new door was sufficient, them asked if he could bring his grand children over to see the tank!
Jim, found so much humor in this question, that once he got through laughing, said yes. The chief told him not to fix dinner it would be provided (Jim still wonders if local taxes paid for it). The chief showed up with his wife and the grand children and spent 3 hours socializing and eating KFC!
Jim say's he has only had problem with the police in his town, which is known as a "Speed Trap".
Months later, Jim was pulled over for speeding, he gave the local officer his licence. The officer ran the licence, came back to the car and said "You're the guy with the fish tank aren't you, Jim said actually it's a reef tank...but yes. Jim asked how he knew this, and the officer told him "we all know about you, the chief made it very clear to us ". The officer said he was sorry to bother him, and now that he knew his car he would never bother him again.
Jim said when he was pulled over he knew he was doing 15 MPH over the limit.
Ah; the intelligence of some people, and the assumptions that will be made over something as benign (or hot) as light.

Ahhh. So being wrongfully accused by the police may have some benefit:D. Awesome story.

It never ceases to amaze me when I hear about the 90 yr old couple who accidentally bought a little too much Sudafed on month and had their door broken down for meth production (story came from a CVS pharmacist). They spend the money to come up with the 'evidence' they need to arrest you, but don't actually use common sense to see if there is actually anything warranting arrest. If a little old lady and her husband were running a meth lab in their home, would't there have been tell tale signs (smells, etc.)?

Here's a sorry pic of my house when I had my 300g (4x400). That's the front door with the glass storm door and dual windows in the LR. The tank was actually on the other side of the room. The neighbors in the back saw more light out of the french doors.
