I just relocated. I planned to have no sump, so I bought the Deltec MCE600. It is very bad - noisy, no skimm, hard to adjust...
I used to have H&S150, Deltc AP600, Deltc AP851, Aqua C....etc I used to have a sump in basement, so I could pick a skimmer with any size.
Now, I cannot have a sump in basement, that was why I was thinking to have no sump (use all hang-on items - skimmer, calcium reactor... etc). After the experience with Deltc MCE600, I changed my planning to use a sump agin (inside the cabinet).
I have struggled for couple weeks (which summer is good... worth the money and the most importance is quiteness). My LFS recommended E&R RS135 or RS180 (low cost - sort of silent); based on my experience, I like the Deltec AP600 (it was really good, quite and a lot of skimm...). I almost picked one of those.
Thanks for people like "steve the plumb" and Rogers (especially, steve, he asked me to wait for the result of his new skimmer - 9020), finally I picked this skimmer Tunze 9020. I installed it last night, running for 24 hrous, the foam is constant, the skimmer is "QUITE", and also very good size for in-sump). If anyone looking for skimmer, you should consider this .. my tank is 150 - will be "restocked" SPS and a lot of fishes.
Rogers: the only thing, I concern, is the bottom piece (under the skimmer), it is so easy to lose position (the water level will drop). Is there anyway (any accessories) to make it close all the time..
I will post some pictures later (if someone wants it)
