Hi guys, I'm getting back to the hobby! I had 75gal about 5 years back and took it down after 5 years in the hobby. But now I'm ready to get in, this time with JBJ 28 LED nano. I got little rusty on this so ill be asking allot of questions hopefully you guys will help me out.
Here are some pictures after 2 days I used the agronite live sand and put in there 35lbs of fully cured Bali wild LR.
It's all stock equipment for now, I'm planning to get HOB skimmer and 1 power head.

What you guys think about the aquascaping? I'm thinking there may be too much rock.

Looks like a tad too much rock, and give yourself room around the glass so that you can clean it. May not be obvious now, but 6-mo down the road it'll be VERY nice to be able to fit your hand, algae pad, and scraper easily between the rock and glass. 2" clearance or more will allow enough room plus account for growth of the corals that will eventually be on there.

Scape looks solid though. Just keep in mind that you should try to limit possibility of rock slides, my next tank will be completely epoxied / drilled / braced after all the headaches I have had.

You had rock slides before?
and your right about the cleaning at least on the sidewalls there should be space(ill change it while i can)
Man i'm not sure what ill do with the extra 6-8 lbs of LR now, LFS may not take it back.

Oh yes I've had rock slides, on many occasions. Crabs, snails, fish, and even corals (softies mostly) can put enough pressure on the rocks to cause them to move if even the slightest bit unstable.

LFS probably won't take the rock back at full price unless they are super cool, but you can always look to craigslist or a local reef club to sell it for closer to what you paid for it.

thx man, your tank looks cool by the way

I have a question, Since I added fully cured LR will my tank cycle normally?
i think i'm having amonia spike, would that be from the livesand being dead in the bag?

A small cycle is normal even when using liverock and/or livesand. Trust your tests, it's happening it'll just be smaller and shorter than normal (if you used dry rock, etc).

Ok i have been testing the water and no Ammonia/nitrite/nitrate after the initial second day small spike. I have been also feeding the tank with mysis shrimp a little and no spikes. I'm already seeing diatom bloom, is my cycle over in a week?
There are also little snails and starfish showing up everywhere.

Remember i added 35lb of fully cured and mature LR from my LFS main tanks where they keep corals.

The cycle on my tank with cured LR and sand lasted only about 4-days when I first started it, so your results are not unreasonable.

Don't jump the gun with stocking though, start with one small and hardy fish and wait a few weeks before adding something else. Fish add far more bioload then anything else in the tank so it will be a true measure of how cycled the tank is.

Hi guys I went to my LFS and could not resist :crazy1:
Water parameters are all good so I jumped the gun.
Slowly learning how take pictures. I need new MACRO lens.

Here are new additions.

I was just looking at your tank lol
You have some nice ricordias on the right did the split on their own or you helped them :)

No help, just a lot of months of regular ole growth :)

Though they are getting a bit out of control, I think I need to start fragging soon (along with most of my other corals).

Hi guys, I think its time for update :hmm5:
Tank has been up for over 2 months and i have been fighting MANTIS WAR.
They all gone! 3 total also 3 gorilla crabs:crazy1:

I lost couple of fish and inverts to mantis over the last 2 months and now have Flame and 1 Clown, but finally Im on the right track :celeb3:
By the way I had to get the FLAME for my wife. Its the reason i have the tank ;) When mama is happy everybody is happy!
