WLan - need for regular unplug / reset

Hi Aquadigital and GHL.

I'm pleased with my Profilux -- and once the wlan is set up it's great indeed.

But now that it's been running for a week I've noticed a major bug, at least in my system.

The Profilux's wlan stability isn't 100%. By this I mean that occassionally (e.g. more than once a day -- which is frequently, then!) I need to unplug the Profilux to enable wlan access. Unplugging works every time -- but it also means I lose all the data that's been stored in the interim.

My wireless network is G-class and secured -- and all the other wireless computers in my house (2 laptops and a main pc) never lose their access, and nor does the network itself ever need resetting (well, maybe once a year or so).

What think you of this problem. I want to stress that it's not my network -- and unplugging the Profilux invariably works in terms of reestablishing connectivity.

Is a 9600 baud rate too slow? Should I switch channels? (everything in the house runs on channel 11). Is the wireless module faulty? I've tried reseating it in the expansion port of the Profilux, and it's well-seated.

Over to you for ideas.

Hi

usuallay the WLAN-connection is stable all the time. For example I can access my ProfiLux via WLAN any time I want. But I know from another customer that he had a similar problem. The reason was that the router disconnected this connection after a while (standby or energy save mode).
Maybe you can find and check settings regarding this?
The baudrate is ok.
Did you change something in the Lantronix-configuration web interface? Maybe powermode?
When connection is interrupted: Can you still access the Lantronix-interface?

Yes; I just discovered that I can access the Lantronix interface...so the wireless is still working in the Profilux.

When I selected reset through the interface, the Profilux software is able to gain access once again.

Very odd. I'll check into my wireless router configuration to see if anything is toggled with respect to time out.

Could it be related to the cannel overlap?? Are there any AP around your place that could interfere.

I know that one of my AP is very picky about our wireless phone (2.4Ghz) whereas the other one it doesn’t seem to be affected (both running on the same channel when in use)

Interesting question. There are alot of wireless devices in the house -and immediately around my house, no doubt - but the phones are 5.8ghz, fortunately.

I increased the time-out, which seems to be working -- BUT, about half the time, when I go to download date from the Profilux, it freezes half way through the process and I lose the data as a result.

Ach.
