I'm lucky I caught this, as my tank lights were off and I literally had on my coat and hat with the door open to elave for work...took a glimpse at my tank on the way out and stopped..it looked sort of murky. I turned on the actinics and the water was looking pretty cloudy. Not really bad, like if I looked down the tank the long way (its a 55) I could still see some things out the other end. I have halimeda and C. prolifera in my tank, both of which, as far as I know, can go sexual. Well, when I came home from work last night, one good sized clump of halimeda was all white, like it gets at night when the lights are off. I didn't think about it too much, as sometimes it does that when my Ca dips too low (I dose two part pretty sporadically, as I'm kind of lazy and don't really have much calcium-intensive livestock). The caulerpa gets trimmed back pretty regularly so I don't think it was that. Anyway, I tore out all the halimeda in the tank and tossed a good sized bag of carbon in the sump. I'm hoping this is actually the problem and that I caught it in time, most of hte corals were closed up, but they usually are overnight anyway. I'll do a water change when I get home from work...anyone else have any ideas?
