Won Pro Heater Not Working

Hey Jeremy,
Long time buddy. My 225g in-wall and the 40g in wall are well on their way. I have 18 fish in the tanks now. I am really excited about the way it turned out. And you know I owe a big thank you to PA. Check out the link....

Anyway, now to the not so fun stuff...
One of my Won Pro 350w heaters started acting up a couple of days ago. I unplugged several times in hopes that it would reset itself. But after a minute the temperature guage shoots up to 95 or 120F, which obviously is not correct.

I have read on RC and my local club site the folks have had problems with the heaters giving false readings or just stay on or die. Is there a warranty on these heaters? PA invoiced me in March, 2006 for the heater. I still have the box.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Rebecca,

I am sorry to hear you had a heater go bad on you. The unit is still under warranty. We can do replacement a couple of different ways....

1. We could charge/ship you a new one, then once we get the defective one back we will refund this back to your card.

or

2. We can get the defective one back and ship out a replacement for it once it comes in.

I might suggest switching over to the Finnex Titanium heaters as well, as their track record seems to be much better than the Won Brothers anymore.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy,
Sorry for not replying back to you sooner. I was on vacation last week. I got back from vacation to find that my second Won heater went bad too. It was registering 115F temp. Thank goodness the heater did not kick on. I have read some really bad stuff about these heaters.

I am going to pack up both heaters and send them back to you. I do not want to get new Won heaters. Do I get a credit from Won Brothers or PA to replace the heaters that are under warranty? I would be interested in a suggestion from you for replacement heaters. Which Finnex Titanium would you suggest?

Thanks
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

I would take a look at doing either two of the Finnex 300w or 500w titanium tubes only with power cord, and then just run them off of your controller. As far as the wattage goes, I would just get close to what you had before with the Won units.

We can get you credited on the Won Bros here towards the cost of the Finnex units.
