Wondering if my mixed fish-food will serve clowns...

Just got my two baby black (i bealieve to be OC, but got one as OC one as true perc) clwons, and tossed in a bit of my thawed fish-goodies ( squid, mussel, brine, standard shrimp, nori) that has been ground into a pulp. The bite sizes cant really get any smaller, yet these two gobble and spit all the food back out.

I just put them in today, is this because of stress still? Or do they need something else? I dont want to grind up any more seafood for a while (i am vegitarian, yeucK!) will they accept this in time? Thanks for advice.

BTW:

Ordered two from Foster&Smith: 1 is great, other DOA., Found last two black clowns in san diego county, labeled as Black Percula, but exactly the same as Foster&smith Black Oc. English raised. Foster&smith did however refund purchase and shipping, but are ALREADY OUT of black Oc. after having them for less than a week.

Here are pics of the two tank nubs, Zerg and Egon, Let me know your oppinions, Occ. or Perc?

Sounds like you have everything in order. Give them some time to feed (sometimes it may take up to a week). As far as food goes, be sure to include plenty of algal matter in their diet, as this species may include up to 25% or more algae in it.

Those are almost CERTAINLY captive bred fish. The fish store or breeder should be able to tell you exactly what they were eating before you got them. If they don't eat your mix tomorrow I'd give them what they were eating before to get them going and then wean them onto your mix. If you can't find out what they were eating cyclop-eeze will get almost anything to eat....

how about sheet nori on PVC and bloodworms?

Also are they Ocelarus or True percs? They have orange ring around eye, but dont know if its close enough to determine...

Also, correlary to first question: Will My tang (getting a few months from now) eat nori alongside the clowns?

thanks agian.

They are A. ocellaris. They may learn to take a nori sheet in time, but they probably will not for a while. Bloodworms may work, but dantodd suggested some good foods. In addition to cyclopeeze and the rest, try some mysid shrimp.

i got mysis shrimp, but in a flat stack, almost full mysis, for future RBTA (which leaked all over my floorboard, what a nightmare), wont this be too large for 1-1.5 inch clowns?
