Woo! Cyano over!

After my tank upgrade I went through some new tank syndrome with diatom and cyano blooms, diatom finished up and then the cyano came roaring in on the sandbed. Added a large CUC and let them go to work, including a couple of sandsifting conchs and a lot of Nassarius and Planaxis snails. Let the new tank syndrome continue for several weeks and noticed yesterday that much of the cyano had turned black, cleaned out the stuff that was loose and this morning cyano is all gone, sand is nice and white. No chemicals added, chaeto added to sump about 2 weeks ago and thats it.

Nice to know nuissance algae does lose every now and then ;)

Good job! It feels good doesn't it? It felt good for me too, and then the hair algae showed up. And then the bryopsis. Haha...

You've won the battle, I hope you win the war too.

Im hoping I've got some preemptive strikes on the hair algae, two lettuce nudibranches and lots and lots of hermits, trohcus, cerith, and turbo snails as well as about 4-5 fuzzy chitons

I have to say, fuzzy chitons are the BEST thing ever for destroying algae on rocks, I bet they'd do fine in an aggressive tank as well. Mine fasten themselves to the rock so hard I cant pull them off no matter what I do. May be worth giving it a shot
