Wood as a canopy??

I am using plywood and 2X4's for my canopy and i was wonder if they might catch on fire or what not? I am having 2nd guesses on my wood canopy that just took 5 hrs to build. Any suggestions or comments about wood canopys.

Is that one of those mythical Flannel Corals that everyone talks about? j/k prugs!!

I made mine out of wood, as I am sure A LOT of other people on here have as well. There will be no problem with halides and wood. They don't get hot enough to allow the wood to catch fire.
 
Most hoods are made of wood. Just use spacer blocks so the lights are not in full contact with the wood. Unless you are building something huge, 1x2 are all you ned.2x4 will make it very heavy.
 
I used aluminum flashing as a "fire break" between the wood and the halides. Actually the aluminum helps disperse the heat and acts as a sink, so everything stays stable and cool. If there is a spark or electrical short circuit, the aluminum will shield the wood.
